Beer – Curim Gold
Origin – Ireland
Bottle Style – 500ml
Alc. 4.3% vol.
Ingredients – barley malt, wheat, hops, water
The Pour:
This beer pours with golden almost dark honey colour, with a nice head which froths up but only lasts for approximately 3mins, this leaves a thin covering to the top of the beer, there is some lacing which fully disappears around a quarter ways through the glass. As normal I poured the first half of the beer with the glass at approx. 45o, and then poured the rest in at 90o to try a get a head to rise, without overflowing the glass.
The Nose:
The first and strongest thing that I noted was the malt, with just under current of the wheat coming through; there is a slight hint of bread dough underneath coming through with just the slightest touch of citrus and what might be toffee.
The Taste:
This beer starts off almost like a beer that does not have any wheat within it, but this quickly gives way to a nice wheaty blast, with a touch of what might be plum. The floral hops give this beer a pleasant slightly sour taste (but as this beer warmed this sourness became almost overpowering), with a hint of the citrus (lemon) that was detected on the nose.
Accompanying Food:
I would suggest that Curim Gold would go well with a lot of different foods, from pork in pepper sauce to chicken in creamy sauces. This is due to this beers inherent property that will allow the beer to clean your palate and thus giving you a better appreciation of the food
Recommended:
Yes I would recommend this beer as in my option this is an above average wheat beer, that has a good taste, and flavour which is worth buying.
