 Description:

The Pour:
This beer pours as you would expect from a quality wheat beer, that is to say a dark cloudy golden straw brown.  This beer has a good head formed as the pour progressed (using standard method into a correct wheat beer glass), which again is fairly typical off good wheat beers. The head in this case has not got very good retention properties as it had reduced to a fairly thin layer within a couple of minutes of pouring.  What was left of the head provided quite good lacing through the rest of the glass

The Nose:

The nose from this beer is quite surprising in that there are no really prominent aromas evident. Of what I detected there is a touch of light fruit, some citrus smells of oranges, a touch of cloves and banana. There is some hints of the malt from the wheat, and some of the floral hops with a touch of bready-ness from the yeast.

 The Taste:

Upon the first taste of this beer, you get the fantastic flavour from the malt wheat, with hints of orange citrus, some clove like flavours. There is just the slightest touch of bready-ness from the yeast. Considering that this beer is relative sweet there is still just the slightest touch from the floral hops which act as the perfect counter balance to this sweetness.  The beautifully balanced aftertaste from this beer is a combination of the malt wheat and what almost seems to be caramel and banana, with a slight touch of bitterness from the hops

Accompanying Food:
Grolsch Weizen works well with dishes that contain delicate fish, this is due to Grolsch Weizen not overwhelm your palate.  Surprisingly for a beer it can also accompany sweet desserts such as banoffee pie, due to the sweetness of this beer.

Recommended:
Yes I would recommend this beer to others, having tried this beer for the first time during this review; I have discovered that this is indeed an exceptional example of what a wheat beer can be.  Without any doubt I will be trying this beer again, the only problem that I can see with it is sourcing it, as I only came across it by accident last week.

If you have any requests about beers that you would like me to try or about the above beer please leave a comment. Thanks
